- what exactly IS your position on intersectional approaches to domination/oppression. I mean you certainly seem to think its a bad approach. Yes? No? Why? Hi WV: Not sure why you think I think it's a bad approach, per se? Perhaps this just points to the limitations of clear meaning across cyber space? I think the intersectional approach is a useful tool and a cleverly-devised one. I think it's important for everyone to familiarise themselves with its tenets - and with all the debates around it - rather than burying heads in the sand. As I've said, it's widely used in South Africa and probably has its purest application here, in this post-apartheid country. [It may also have interesting application in similarly divided countries like Israel-Palestine and Rwanda). In this particular country, with its skin-tagged past, it has a very specific application. Of course, it also has its limitations and this is why its application perhaps still needs to be democratically debated, across a spectrum of opinion. It's still also poorly understood (I still have more to learn) which again makes it a pity that some want to shut down broad discussion around it. I think it's a bad approach to police debate around this theory. That's what I'm objecting to, on this thread. What I have said is that - in terms of media analysis - it's notable that certain media apply the tenets of intersectionality theory in a selective way. That's what of interest to me: how the theory plays out (or how it doesn't) in mainstream media. Sorry you don't feel you can trust me. I have no control over what you think of me. I don't think of people here in terms of 'trust'. I rate them only by the words they write.
