You are like a Clintonite deploring the deplorables. Why not ask what it is about Peterson that appeals so deeply to so many people? What is this void that Peterson is filling? What does it say about you and the left for dismissing these obvious questions? What does it say for the millions who understand him? What does it say about the world and these times?
Jeez, I dunno. The same void Trump is filling? I’m sure even Clinton filled some void for the severely blinkered. Is JP giving some propagandised downtrodden false hope and a fake sense empowerment? Wow. That’s not wise, profound or challenging in any meaningful way. There’s not enough muscle, substance and integrity in the new generations to protect what ought to be protected, not because of some bull taught in academia, but because of the power of mass capitalist indoctrination from birth to produce a largely servile, disconnected, alienated, frightened, cowardly, selfish, docile populace, easily exploited by the powers that be.
Peterson doesn’t challenge this system; he encourages an acceptance of it. Those in the establishment must love him for distracting and bamboozling so many. Talk about being herded towards slavery and ultimate destruction! What are all Peterson’s millions of admirers going to do with all this new-found wisdom, sense of purpose and personal responsibility he’s impregnated them with? Create a bright new world of love for us all? Or are they just going to piss it all away by blaming some imaginary ‘left wing’ conspiracy against the soul and those too ‘weak’ to not pull themselves up by their bootstraps?
I’m all for introspection, taking control of one's life and deeply listening to what the great spiritual and philosophical gurus had/have to say on our condition. But Peterson is definitely not one of these; he just leaves me feeling cold. If I want to be inspired, I’ll leave it to genuine, coherent thinkers, ta.
