Sorry Ken it looks like on this you're devoted to believing just what you want.
Actually Thomas I think that's your problem: how many times was Farage given a prime political media slot on Question time to spout his xenophobic little Englander nonsense? 32 times up to last year- and for a lot of the time he starred on the box his party didn't even have an MP and never more than two. In fact UKIP were represented on 24 percent of the programmes. Now go compare that to the treatment of the Greens or the SNP.
Who reads these papers? Really it's just a small minority.
Talk of "believing what you want..." actually the Sun & Mail are the UK's top sellers and the Mail is furthermore the leading online Newspaper in the world.
"...Anyone who's worked at attaining skills, who's invested in where they live and grew up has a right to insist cheap foreign labour should not be allowed to undermine their and their family's standard of living, their ability to live, have a job, a home..."
Yes, I'm sure you've worked & invested magnificently... but if you care to look at the facts on immigration you'll find that most of the flow to the UK has come from the commonwealth countries or as refugees or otherwise from non EU countries. In fact either of these have for years outstripped the EU numbers; as I have discussed and posted about here before. Both these immigrant sources are and have always been under control of Westminster. Even accepting large numbers of EU immigrants from a newly EU eastern Europe was a distinct strategy of the UK government made to suit its foreign policy and not a decision by Europe.
"...Examples of reactionary right-wing lostness change none of that..."
Oh I'm sure nothing can change your "opinions" Charles.
