All my points with regards Corbyn have to taken within the context of; a) Parliamentary democracy is currently all we have to work with; b) that I don't think it's fair to say Labour's loss was all down to his spinelessness/failure and c) that as our prison chat suggested, I'll take whatever I can for my kids given that we're not getting out anytime soon. (No need to repeat it fully, but a blunt sexual metaphor I used illustrates my position then and now.) I said many moons ago that I had reservations about Corbyn, not least his remaining in the party when Blair moved on Iraq. That said, Corbyn was undoubtedly on the left of Labour, there is ample evidence to suggest he was feared and his election would have made a significant difference to many lives, if and yes I know it's a big if, he had been able to get just a few of his promises enacted. He was not the messiah, but nor is he a very naughty boy; perhaps there should be a little more nuance in all our positions. |
