Who? Williamson? Ignoring Labour rules for now, what should he have done then? What would have been the consequences of backing him?
Referring to your previous post and anti-semitism, Corbyn and Co. would have known they were ####ed either way, but went for the 'easier' option of accepting that there was a degree of it within the LP. Certainly had they taken it on, it wasn't just going to go away; I suspect it would have been far worse.
I can only assume that you and Keith see Corbyn as a foil because failing that, neither of you seem to acknowledge the complexities of the situations he was up against. Williamson, remain votes versus leave votes, anti-semitism, reneging on Brexit; all of them are painted as black and white issues of his not being decisive or authoritarian enough, when it could probably be argued that he was trying to respect the democratic will of the party, LP rules and the rulings of the NEC.
On virtually every single issue, had he done the opposite of what he did, the media would have had a field day.
That all said, if he made one monumental mistake, I think he would be his failure to back reselection.
