It was either an attack on the Europeans staying here or it was 'slaves choosing which ankle to have the manacle on'. I think you need to decide, because it likely isn't both, which is my argument. I think the racist slant was a lot like the antisemitic slant regarding corbyn ; an angle to take to make an argument that for most was not the issue. In fact talking to people I'd say the latter was the case, you can't fight an enemy on two fronts. We know the uk govt is against us,, and ww also know the eu wants economic purity and military power (via nato and via the European Union) to rival the us and Russia. It's seemingly benign laws tend to favour nations over citizens and allow nations to choose which laws they abide by and which they ignore. U.K. A good example of that. As such, with uk still a law to itself and eu making laws which for example limit the possibilities of re nationalisation of previously nationalised institutions, I believe Brits voted not for an ideal but the idea that one enemy (uk) is better than two. I don't think they differentiated between parties, just institutions; the uk govt and the eu govt. I think the initial result made sense; it didn't support eu nationals but did support a regression to *less govt influence. Rightly or wrongly, but the point is it likely wasn't a general attack on non Brits but on big govt. Assuming that(which I think is true from my limited anecdotal evidence from real people), the next step is the govt here, and then we're good to go. Surely (if it happens) one less govt is something to be OK about?
