Except Labour haven’t ignored their 5 million Leave voters. (I say this as a Labour Leave voter myself) The objective situation is that there has been a persistent attempt by the Establishment to crush Corbyn’s leadership between the hammer of a Hard Leave position and the anvil of a Hard Remain one. Corbyn has done exceptionally well to navigate this. So much so that, through skilful politicking and occupying the true Centre Ground, he has forced the LibDems to veer too hard towards Hard Remain, such that their electoral machine’s wheels have now come off, as they have veered headlong into the Hard Remain roadside. That leaves the Tories to deal with. But again, objectively speaking, the Tories’ claim to be the “party of Leave” does not stand up to scrutiny: Boris’ “Deal” is essentially the same surrender deal as was “negotiated” by May 6 months ago - and for which she was rightly castigated by the Leave electorate. The Leave electorate’s sudden ostensible enthusiasm for the Tories is a matter of style, not substance - the consequence of a) Farage being paid off good style, and b) a biased media terrified of a Corbyn victory. The Labour option of a second referendum, with a real choice being put to the public of a much better Deal than Boris’, vs Remain, is a win for Leavers and Remainers alike. And it allows Labour to concentrate on bread and butter issues far more important than Brexit. Sorry, I know that as de facto Trots this will disappoint the two of you. But real socialists, when we see that Corbyn is being attacked mercilessly by the Establishment, can see that the right side to be on is that of defending Corbyn, not joining in the Establishment pile-on. JEZZA FOR PM!
