We have obtained information from VOSA and have been told that although the legislation comes into effect in February, visual inspections start in April due to the implementation of Special Notices etc.. and are totally retrospective. This means that if a DPF was removed in 2010 and tested in April 2014, it would fail the test if the Tester could see the DPF was removed.
VOSA will be supplying all Test Stations information on which vehicles were manufactured with a Diesel Particulate Filter.
So to clarify Peter's question, it applies to all vehicles regardless of when the DPF was removed.
