I agree with what you say about the aviation industry, If you are trained to work on Cessna then you can't work on Piper until you have completed training on the differences. I gather that once you are qualified to work on say a Cessna you will receive all relevant documentation and recall data etc in order to complete your job properly and safely. I was only legally allowed to check tyre pressures, check levels and to clean spark plugs on the Chipmunk I used to own a share in.
I, like you have LCGI, AAE, EngTech, MIMI and MIDiagE but it doesn't appear to be worth as much as having a code sign above the door according to some.
