Do You think that Most garages are Sceptical. ??
Do you wonder Why. ??
IF You got a Complainant. ---------
How will you Decide whats a fair price and Whats a rip off. ?? ( £20 Per hour or £100 per hour )
Or How long should the job have taken ?? :- 4 hours to do a job or 6 hours to do a job. ??
(Taking into account that every job is easy until you actually do it and it turns to sxit when a bolt shears off or something doesn't program up as it should. ??
How would you decide :- Did it Really need that part that was fitted or not. ?? ( not obvious items like brake discs, pads, tyres etc that can be inspected, but Ecu's, instrument clusters, Body control modules etc. ??
If A Main Dealer fits 3 Expensive parts to cure a Problem on a car due to the Complexity of the System and its easier for them to replace all 3 items, and charge the customer rather than Spend Time testing and proving which part was required. Is that OK. ??? ( Taking into account that at £100 per hour they cannot spend too long on a job testing, otherwise its cheaper to replace everything )
If An Independent garage did the same thing, is that OK ???
And On the Other hand, If an independent or Main Dealer only fitted one part and the job went wrong again soon afterwards, Should the Customer expect to pay for the other parts fitting. ?? ( As Once they have had an invoice, no matter how little, They expect everything else doing for free as "YOU" didn't fix it correctly the first time. ?? )
I Think the Main Thing is To Explain to the customer what problems Could Occur afterwards and hope he understands, But They Soon forget that you mentioned it Might cost him more money in a few weeks or months time if anything else went wrong.
How would you Decide who was responsible for further repairs if a customer complained about something going wrong a few weeks or months after a repair. ??
If You can Seriously answer these questions then you are onto a good thing.
At the moment, I would prefer things as they are, No Extra Expense, no extra paperwork, no grief from someone that thinks we should do something their way. And If a Customer wants to take us to court, They have to take the chance that if We are Proved right, then it won't cost us anything, And if we get proved to be in the wrong, they can throw the book at us.
The Person then in the wrong could end up with the court costs. ?? Isn't that the Fair thing to do. ??
Not that I have ever had to go that far with any customer, but it could easily happen.
I am not Trying to be Awakward, but I would like to know how anyone could sort out the above questions if the need arose.
Thanks Tony.
